OUR HISTORY
SWSCALE has been proudly serving the needs of customers throughout Arizona, regionally and nationally for over 70 years. The company was started in 1948 by Jack Payne and Cliff Taylor in a small garage located in the center of Phoenix, AZ.
Arizona needed high quality weighing solutions and Scale Calibration services for Commercial Truck Scales. SWSCALE designed, developed, and started to manufacture its own Truck Scale, and was soon delivering scales as fast as it could make them. Since business was booming, SWSCALE relocated to a larger facility on 24th street near Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport.
However, it was forced to relocate again in 1975 due to the expansion of Sky Harbor Airport. So, they acquired the current facility at 2535 W. Broadway Road in south central Phoenix. It is here that Jack and Cliff developed the Sidewinder Truck Scale, which is still manufactured today and is recognized industry-wide as a proven, robust and reliable heavy capacity scale.
In 1984, Rollin Dumont relocated his family to the Phoenix area to continue his 20+ year career in the scale industry and purchased the company. Through years of scale industry sales and marketing experience, he expanded the company’s product offering by becoming a sales and service channel outlet for other scale manufacturers. In July 2000, Dean and Roger Dumont became the proud owners of the company bringing their years of experience, trustworthiness, and progressive business practices to lead the company.
Today, SWSCALE is a robust organization with an exceptionally talented, innovative, and skilled staff, a Service equipment and resource portfolio that is the admiration of our competition, a Manufacturing team that produces exceptionally high quality products, and an organization rich with a deep-rooted culture of teamwork and pride.
